# Users

> Understanding user accounts and authentication

Users are individuals who authenticate and interact with the Natural platform. Each user is associated with a party membership that links the user to one or more [Parties](/guides/concepts/parties). A user can authenticate through Google OAuth, email/password with 2FA, or phone number with OTP.

## User permissions

Users can have different permission levels over a Party:

* **Owner** - Full control (manage users, agents, payments)
* **Admin** - Manage operations (create agents, send payments)
* **Member** and **Viewer** - Read-only access to transactions and balances
